'Role on the wall' in English and Viking longships

Role on the wall for Hiccup from 'How to train your Dragon'

Role on the wall for Hiccup from 'How to train your Dragon' 1

This week in English we have been learning about the 'role on the wall'.  This is a way of writing about a character in a book.  Inside the shape you write the thoughts and feelings of the character.  Around the outside, you write the description, what the character does and says and what others say about them.  It's best to use 'evidence' from the text to show you've read the book.  We have been looking at the character of Hiccup in Cressida Cowell's 'How to train your Dragon'.

We have also been reading an information text on Viking longships and answering comprehension questions.  We are now applying our knowledge to making models of longships out of card.  They are quite tricky but we are persevering.
