Woodpeckers visit St Martin's church

On Thursday 19th July, Woodpeckers walked down to St Martin's church for a visit arranged by Mrs Fielder as part of this term's RE (Religious Education) learning.  Mrs Lilley, who is a governor of our school and also a church warden at St Martin's, walked with us towards the church as though we were on a pilgrimage.  We sang 'Sing a song, sing a joyful song, sing a joyful song to celebrate.  Jesus is alive you know, he's risen from the dead.  He was crucified but now he's risen like he said.  Hallelujah!'

Mrs Lilley showed us many parts of the church, from the font and the bell ropes to the beautiful altar tables and the piece of rock from St Martin's home in Tours, France.  We learned a great deal and really enjoyed seeing the building and experiencing the peace.
