Nightingales have taken delivery of some caterpillars this week. They are looking forward to watching them eat and grow and then metamorphose into butterflies. How long will it take? Watch out for more photographs of their development via the link below.

Nightingales had an amazing day at the Cathedral (18th November 2016). They took part in a number of different activities, looking at the history of the local area and the impact of World War 1. Here are some pictures taken during the day.

100 years after the end of the Battle of the Somme
Here are a selection of calendars Nightingales made following our visit to Salisbury Cathedral. These are based on the sweet heart pin cushions made by convalescing soldiers and sent home from the battlefield. It was amazing to see some of the original pin cushions on display. Some of the children were thrilled to be able to talk to a veteran from World War 2, who had come to look at the 100 hearts exhibition.

We have recently sent out passwords to enable children to access the Active Primary website at home. You may find that your child has been set maths homework that means they need to access this site. All passwords should have been written in their reading record. Please remember children are welcome to attend homework club if there are any problems.
This week the children have had the opportunity to take part in a taster for Martial Arts Club, which runs on a Thursday after school. This is free for all KS 2 children, but places are limited, so please return forms promptly if you are interested. Thank you.
Photographs to follow.
The children worked really hard last term creating pictures with the illusion of depth. We looked at how vanishing points are used to produce a 3D version of our own names and a room within a room. Some of examples of their finished work are posted below. The children should be bringing their finished art work home this week for you to see.

X Table Links
In class this week we have been focusing on our 9 x table. Ensuring the children are secure in their times table knowledge will be invaluable in class. I have posted a link to an external site which may help with this. There are a number of different interactive games that the children can access from here. Of course they can also use Mathletics as well.
Knowing the division facts is also just as important.
Celebrating World Book Day - some amazing costumes!
Exciting news! This week linking to the science topic of life cycles we have been able to see the ducklings hatch. We currently have eight. They are the offspring from our adult ducks hatched last year.
