Welcome to Woodpeckers Year 4
Class Teacher: Mrs Morgan-Smith
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Thomas
Welcome to our class page! Here you will find some useful links to support your learning at home and updates on all of the wonderful learning we have been doing throughout the year.
We use Class Dojo to recognise good learning and to acknowledge children when they do the right thing and make good choices. Each day, Woodpeckers can collect points for a wide range of behaviours and qualities we strive for at St Martin's, these include: kindness, honesty, resilience, reflectiveness, great listening, independence, organisation and positivity. In addition, we have lots of points available for children who read at home with an adult and bring their books in to show us. We always try to improve our mental maths scores each week so we have bonus points available in "Beat my score" twice a week.
Each week a class winner is announced and awarded with a special certificate to celebrate their success. We also work hard as a class to accumulate as many class points as possible.
Coming up this term:
Until Christmas we will be reading Krindlekrax by Philip Ridley as our class book.
We will be thinking about what makes a hero and if our main character Ruskin is a hero or not. We will be writing some persuasive letters this term as well as creating a newspaper report all about Corky's dramatic episode in the sewers.
In Maths, we will continue to focus on quick mental recall of number facts so please keep practising your times tables at home and you can try and beat your score each week.
In History we will be doing a local study all about the move from Old Sarum to Salisbury and re-living some of the past events which lead to the creation of New Sarum.
In Science we will be exploring Electricity, where it comes from and how it works within electrical circuits.
